PORTLAND, Ore. 05/23/2025—Image Comics is pleased to unveil the upcoming Exquisite Corpses #2 stealth variant featuring art by Eisner Award-winning artist Tula Lotay (Somna, Barnstormers: A Ballad of Love and Murder), who is nominated for Best Cover Artist for the 2025 Eisner Awards, inclusive of her stunning connecting cover artwork for Image Comics’ The Horizon Experiment.
This gorgeous cover showcases a blood-splattered embrace between killer Lady Carolina and her unwitting prey.
This is the second stealth cover revealed from the groundbreaking Exquisite Corpses horror series, crafted by masterminds James Tynion IV (The Deviant, The Department of Truth), Michael Walsh (Universal Monsters: Frankenstein, The Silver Coin), and the “Corpse Crew” of creators, in collaboration between Tiny Onion and Image Comics—each issue will feature an exciting stealth cover, to be unveiled ahead of each issue. Exquisite Corpses #2 hits shelves this June, with a Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers this upcoming Monday.
In Exquisite Corpses, every five years on Halloween, the wealthiest families in America play a game. 12 of the deadliest people in the world are dropped into a small town with just one goal: last killer standing wins. For the citizens of Oak Valley, Maine—this year's unlucky arena—the goal is much simpler. They must survive the night.
Exquisite Corpses #2 features a knife-wielding zealot covered in human skin, a heartthrob with an axe, a pint-sized sociopath with a high-powered drone, and so much more…the killers are descending on Oak Valley—and the body count is rising. Walsh and Tynion IV are joined by rising star Marianna Ignazzi (Catwoman) to kick off the next bloody chapter in this year’s can’t-miss horror event!
The series uniquely came together in a writers’ room led by Tynion IV and Walsh and made up of “Corpse Crew” comics superstars Adam Gorham (Hellhunters), Becca Carey (Absolute Wonder Woman), Che Grayson (Dark Spaces: Good Deeds), Claire Roe (Dark Spaces: The Hollywood Special), Gavin Fullerton (The Closet), Jordie Bellaire (Redlands), Marianna Ignazzi (Catwoman), Pornsak Pichetshote (The Good Asian), Tyler Boss (You’ll Do Bad Things), and Valentine De Landro (Bitch Planet). Each issue of the series will build upon the last in a true 'exquisite corpse' game style, with a passing of the baton from creator to creator to unfold the story in a collaborative and competitive fashion.
Exquisite Corpses will launch as an initial 13-issue arc/season, but the world will be expanded with additional stories, kicking off a brand new storytelling venture. There will also be a companion trading card game launching soon, and fans can start collecting killer cards early with ones exclusively found in polybagged Cover C variants of each issue. Fans eager to play the game early can collect all 13 polybagged issues to make a complete card deck set.
The first issue of Exquisite Corpses, which launched last week, immediately sold out at the distributor level, and a second printing is on the way (hitting shelves this June). Fans can also now start guessing which killer will be standing at the end, with the full roster of killers unveiled. Readers can also catch the Corpse Crew during the Corpse Tour ’25, with the first signing dates and locations released, and more to come soon. The first issue is now available to read digitally for free on the Image Comics site, here.
Exquisite Corpses #1 second printing (a triple-length debut issue, featuring 60 pages of story content) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 18 (Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is May 26). Select praise for Exquisite Corpses:
"Exquisite Corpses reads like the greatest Blumhouse movie never made. Allow Tynion and Walsh to invite you to a fascinating world of enthralling characters that gets you instantly hooked. You won't regret it."—Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible)
"Exquisite Corpses has everything you could possibly want from a horror series and THEN some. Twelve of the most twisted serial killers battling it out in a series made by comics' most exciting creators? This book is easily the horror event of the year. My favorite read of 2025!"—Scott Snyder (Absolute Batman, Wytches)
“Lyrical in its brutality and mesmerizing in its chaos, Tiny Onion’s Exquisite Corpses transforms a quiet town into a stage for elegant carnage, as a wonderfully twisted menagerie of killers descends like a fever dream, blending Battle Royale with The Silence of the Lambs.”—Geoff Johns (Geiger, Green Lantern)
“Every now and then there’s a piece of horror fiction that feels so real, so prescient, so about-to-oh-my-fucking-god-happen-in-real-life, that you hope the creators are completely full of shit. I have read Exquisite Corpses. I hope James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh are completely full of shit."—Patton Oswalt (Minor Threats)
“Exquisite Corpses has already set the stage for a thrilling battle for survival with any number of motivations at play, and issue #2 can’t get here soon enough.”—ComicBook (5/5 stars)
“The first issue of Exquisite Corpses may be the single best series start I’ve read in 2025 so far...It’s because Tynion is at the top of his form and the other creators on this book elevate the quality of his work as only those enjoying a project can. Creatively, I’m amazed by how well crafted this is.”—Comics Beat
“I am chomping at the bit to see where this goes. This is an instant pull list addition. I WANT MORE. James Tynion IV, Michael Walsh, Jordie Bellaire, and Becca Carey have made a remarkable horror comic, and it is big and expansive. Its accessibility is truly a master class in how to pull together a large cast into a single work without losing intrigue.”—Monkeys Fighting Robots
“I didn’t just walk away wanting the next issue to come out; I wanted spin-offs and tie-ins. Heck, I wanted to buy all the beautiful variant covers…If the first issue of Exquisite Corpses is such a blast-the-doors-off-the-hinges experience, I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.”—Gatecrashers
“This series launches with a thrilling and brutal first issue, setting the stage for a gripping horror event filled with high-stakes action and social satire… It promises a blood-soaked spectacle that’s as ruthless as it is riveting”—AIPT
“Exquisite Corpses #1 sets up what promises to be mayhem of the most unhinged order, and offers up a compelling premise that pays homage to its inspirations while carving out a unique space for itself that is devilishly fun to read.”—Macabre Daily
