THE WALKING DEAD’S CHARLIE ADLARD & THAT TEXAS BLOOD’S CHRIS CONDON STRIKE OIL WITH NEW ECO-HORROR LAUNCH OF THE EARTH, DEBUT ISSUE RUSHED BACK TO PRINT THIS WEEK

PORTLAND, Ore. 05/27/2026 — Legendary artist Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead, Heretic, Altamont) and co-writers Chris Condon (That Texas Blood, forthcoming That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch) and Andrew Ehrich, with colorist Pip Martin (Everything Dead & Dying), letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Assorted Crisis Events), and designer Mike Tivey (News from the Fallout) have struck oil with their neo-noir-tinged eco-horror Of the Earth. This debut issue has sold out completely at the distributor level and is being rushed back to print this week by Image Comics to keep up with escalating reorder activity.

The Of the Earth #1, second printing will feature new cover art by Adlard himself.

This new series also marks Adlard’s triumphant return to single issue storytelling after his long running collaboration with Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Void Rivals) on the bestselling horror phenomenon, The Walking Dead.

In Of the Earth, Tabitha 'Tabby' Black flees a sordid life for her quiet hometown of Solitude, Texas and the comfort of her Gramma's home where she was raised. Only home isn't what it once was.... and neither is Gramma.

"Of the Earth has sold out and is going back to print! I didn't know I'd be saying that," said Condon. "You hope that your book does well, of course, but there's never any guarantee, so I couldn't be happier when the news hit my inbox last week. It's incredible to see the reaction the book is getting from reviewers and readers, especially when it's been such a blast to make. I'm proud of the book and I'm proud of each of my collaborators—Charlie, Andrew, Pip, Hassan, and Michael—who helped bring this gritty idea to life. Everyone did a fantastic job on every intense panel and on every intense page (and in Michael's case, everywhere else too), so I'm truly honored to see that work finding the audience I think it deserves. Make sure to pick up this second printing which features a fantastic new cover from Charlie Adlard. It might be my favorite cover of the series thus far!"

Adlard also spoke in-depth about the new series in a recent episode of the Let's Talk Comics podcast.
