PORTLAND, Ore. 07/22/2023 — Image Comics congratulates all the winners of last night’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and thanks the members of the industry for all their ongoing support of creator-owned comics.
Public Domain, by Chip Zdarsky, was honored with the “Best New Series” award while Daniel Warren Johnson’s Do A Powerbomb! won for “Best Publication for Teens.”
Sana Takeda won the “Best Painter/Multimedia Artist (interior art)” award again this year and James Tynion IV won in the “Best Writer” category.
For the second year in a row the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award went to an Image Comics creator—the exciting up-and-comer Zoe Thorogood—whose It’s Lonely At the Centre of the Earth has garnered much critical acclaim and buzz this year.
The Will Eisner Comic Industry awards are voted on by comics industry members and the awards ceremony is held in conjunction with San Diego Comic-Con International every year.
