ANDI WATSON & SIMON GANE’S ORIGINAL GRAPHIC NOVEL SUNBURN WILL HEAT UP FALL READING THIS NOVEMBER

PORTLAND, Ore. 04/13/2022 — Eisner Award nominated writer Andi Watson (author of The Book Tour, Kerry and the Knight of the Forest, Paris, the forthcoming Punycorn) and artist Simon Gane (Ghost Tree, Paris, and They’re Not Like Us) unite for the upcoming original graphic novel, Sunburn. This provocative, coming-of-age story is set to hit shelves from Image Comics in November.

In Sunburn, readers meet Rachel, a teenager who lives a gray suburban life in gray suburban England. It’s a world of brown sauce, warm beer, and scrambled eggs every Tuesday. With her summer already mapped out for her—a job working at the butcher and a caravan holiday in Clacton—it seems like this year will only bring more of the same. So when family friends invite her to spend the summer with them in Greece, she jumps at the chance to escape her life and finally be treated like an adult.

"I'm a huge fan of Andi's comics, so am delighted to be collaborating with him for a second time," said Gane. "His writing is naturalistic and nuanced, timeless yet also surprising. He's penned a classic tale here, so where could be more fitting a setting than the Greek Islands?"

The Warners are everything her parents are not—glamorous, sophisticated, and carefree—and when Rachel meets Benjamin, a handsome young friend of the Warners, her summer seems to be taking a turn for the better. But there’s no escaping the pains of growing up, and she’ll soon learn that life on a small island where everyone knows each other’s business may not be all it’s cracked up to be.

Watson added: "Simon is genuinely one of my favourite cartoonists on the planet so it's been a privilege to collaborate with him again on Sunburn. Together we've brought the Greek Islands to life in comic form. You'll feel the sun, taste the sea, and have your heart broken just little bit too."

The Sunburn original graphic novel (ISBN: 978-1534322332, Diamond Code MAY220024) will be available on Wednesday, November 23 and in bookstores on Tuesday, November 29. It can be pre-ordered at your local comic book shop or independent bookstore or via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and Indigo.

Sunburn will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
