Every week, Image publishes a bevy of creator-owned comics that our fans are eager to enjoy and the press is eager to review. We’ve got a round-up of a few reviews that caught our eye this week, plus a few panels we feel are pretty cool or representative of the comics in question, so if you’re on the fence for any of our titles, take a look at this selection of reviews and excerpts and see if anything piques your interest!

A DISTANT SOIL #41 by COLLEEN DORAN
They are heroes, here to save us all, but that doesn't mean that they have to get along.

BLACKACRE #10 by DUFFY BOUDREAU, WENDALL CAVALCANTI, MARC DEERING, ANTONIO FABELA
This issue of BLACKACRE perfectly illustrates the cruelty of haves toward have-nots.

CHEW #36 by JOHN LAYMAN & ROB GUILLORY
There's a lot to like about CHEW, plenty of things to make your favorite, but these identification pages are often the very best.

HOAX HUNTERS #10 by MICHAEL MORECI, STEVE SEELEY, & T-REX JONES
The eyes in panel one are incredible, but the reveal in panel two is even better.

Big Tim at Giant Fire Breathing Robot calls it the "perfect jumping on point for new readers" while Jorge Solis at Bloody Disgusting gave it 4 out of 5 skulls!

INVINCIBLE #105 by ROBERT KIRKMAN, RYAN OTTLEY, CLIFF RATHBURN, & JOHN RAUCH
Chit-chatting, fighting crime, and talking on the phone, all at the same time. Sometimes it's nice to be Invincible.

Corey Schroeder at Comic Vine gave this issue 5 stars, calling it "a great example of what makes Invincible one of the best books on the shelf and should absolutely be checked out by any fans, new or old." Aaron Long at Comicosity says "One hundred and five issues into Kirkman’s second epic creator owned series, the creative team gives readers a nice jump on point to get acclimated to the world of Invincible and what this creative battery is capable of."

INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE #6 by PHIL HESTER, TODD NAUCK, GABE ELTAEB
It's always fun to see how the science behind superheroes works. It's a nice way to raise the stakes.

LOVE STORIES (TO DIE FOR) #1 by DIRK MANNING & OWEN GIENI
Sometimes seeing proof that someone was loved makes despair even sharper.

REALITY CHECK #1 by GLEN BRUNSWICK & VIKTOR BOGDANOVIC
Sometimes drawing in public ain't all it's cracked up to be.

SATELLITE SAM #3 by MATT FRACTION & HOWARD CHAYKIN
Fraction and Chaykin don't explain the concept of lost time in this excerpt, but they nailed the mood and reality of it, and that's incredible.

"The art by Howard Chaykin is simply marvelous, as the timeless talent dances a fine line while being unblushingly offensive as he delivers panels that are outrageously stunning. Through his execution the visual side of this sordid affair garners attention as he attracts even wayward viewers that might have little idea what kind of tale this in fact is."

SHELTERED #3 by ED BRISSON, JOHNNIE CHRISTMAS, & SHARI CHANKHAMMA
SHELTERED is exciting, dramatic, and horrifying, but sometimes, it's also pretty sad.

"Visually, Johnnie Christmas' rough-hewn artwork is an energetic match for Brisson's high-stakes script. Violence is laced throughout the book, and even when it isn't explicit, the threat of it lingers, like a cloud of toxic dust. Christmas' illustrations and Shari Chankhamma's colors manage to be both lovely and unsettling. Blood-like crimsons cut across the page, while muddled earth tones and unforgiving pale hues create an uneasy atmosphere that is as integral to the success of Sheltered as the text."

WITCHBLADE #169 by TIM SEELEY, DIEGO BERNARD, FRED BENES, & ARIF PRIANTO
Sometimes the best moments in comics aren't when people fight or kiss or fly. It's when someone says something in a very serious tone of voice, and you know that things are about to get real.
