The Image Eye 11/6

Every week, Image publishes a bevy of creator-owned comics that our fans are eager to enjoy and the press is eager to review. We’ve got a round-up of a few reviews that caught our eye this week, plus a few panels we feel are pretty cool or representative of the comics in question, so if you’re on the fence for any of our titles, take a look at this selection of reviews and excerpts and see if anything piques your interest!

ALEX + ADA #1 by JONATHAN LUNA & SARAH VAUGHN
Jonathan Luna's latest debut scored very high this week including at Adventures in Poor Taste, Comic Bastards, and Weekly Comic Book Review. It was also awarded Comic of the Week at Geeks Unleashed, where Jo Edward Lewis says the book's "portrayal of loneliness is a powerful one." Alex + Ada draws comparisons to Spike Jonze's new movie, "Her", and Melissa Grey at IGN also observes, "Many of the book's elements are permutations of what we've seen in classic sci-fi from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (and its filmic counterpart, Blade Runner) to I, Robot." Russell Johnson at Unleash the Fanboy gives the book a 4/5, calling it "a very thought provoking first issue." Pick it up while the current printing is still in stores!

DRUMHELLAR #1 by RILEY ROSSMO & ALEX LINK
Surreal, imaginative, bizarre, and filled with peacock eggs and amazing art-- Drumhellar #1 is an especially unique debut by creators Rossmo and Link. Critics like Corey Fryia at We The Nerdy say that the book's "Incredible art and unique story will leave you craving more," while Tyler Goulet at All-Comic promises, "If the rest of this series is anything like issue one then we’re in for something special…"

FATALE #18 by ED BRUBAKER & SEAN PHILLIPS
If you still haven't been convinced by the constant barrage of exceptional quality that is Fatale, then pick up this issue! Benjamin Bailey from IGN exclaims, "Fatale #18 is horrific from start to finish, and that's exactly what we love about it," while Matt LeMaire at The MacGuffin says "The book is layered, expertly-crafted and illustrated and seems absolutely unstoppable. "

GHOSTED #5 by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON, GORAN SUDZUKA, & MIROSLAV MRVA
Mat Elfring at Comic Vine explains it best, noting that in Ghosted #5, "The first arc comes to a close here, and this issue has more twists and turns than the Stelvio Pass in Italy! (That's a really twisty road)" Comic Bastards gave the issue a perfect 5/5, where Jordan North describes it as "pure high-octane the entire way. It’s tense. It’s wild. It’s fantastic. It’s also a real testament to Williamson’s writing that the ridiculousness of the plot of this thing never takes you out of the immersion."

PROTECTORS, INC. #1 by J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI & GORDEN PURCELL
"With equal credit to J. Michael Straczynski and Gordon Purcell, "Protectors Inc." #1 is a prime showcase of exemplary collaboration in creating not only a fascinating world but a resonant social satire. Fans will delight in the little nods to comics' history throughout the years," writes Meagan Damore at Comic Book Resources. The third and newest Joe's Comics debut at Image should leave fans with yet another worthy story to soak up.
