MONSTERS AND TITANS Showcases the Art of Battling Boy

March 25, 2014

Paul Pope’s inks feature in art show companion book

The first volume of Paul Pope’s Battling Boy was one of the most anticipated graphic novels of 2013 — and it delivered; Battling Boy debuted in the #1 place on The New York Times best seller list for graphic books and was widely praised for its dynamic art and electrifying take on the coming-of-age adventure quest. Now Pope’s original art from the Battling Boy touring exhibition has been carefully reproduced for that show’s companion book, MONSTERS AND TITANS: BATTLING BOY ON TOUR.

Presented as they look on the drawing board, without clean-up or colors, Pope’s inked pages are accompanied by the artist’s commentary (in English, French, and Italian) on his influences and process. Also included are character designs, concept art, and even Pope’s lettering test for Battling Boy, giving readers meaningful insight into the creation process behind a bestselling graphic novel.

MONSTERS AND TITANS: BATTLING BOY ON TOUR is a 9” x 12” paperback book and will be in comic book stores on March 26 and in bookstores on April 8.
