RENATO JONES: THE ONE% pays off

An all-new series full of rage and revenge launches this May

Critically-acclaimed writer/artist/director Kaare Kyle Andrews (Spider-Man: Reign, Iron Fist: The Living Weapon) takes creator-owned storytelling to the next level with his supercharged capitalist action thriller RENATO JONES: THE ONE%, first announced at Image Expo and launching from Image Comics this May.

"It doesn't matter how much of the work you do; writing, drawing, coloring… You can only grab onto someone else's characters for so long... but ultimately they're not yours. You're a visitor. I once said that I wanted to be more than a part of the machine, that I wanted to become the machine itself,” said Andrews, echoing the sentiments shared on stage at Image Expo when the project was first announced. “But the only way to do that is to build from the ground up. Control it. Own it. Truly BECOME THE MACHINE."

In RENATO JONES: THE ONE%, society’s upper one percent own more than half the world’s wealth. They’ve crashed economies, bought governments, and amassed more power than any other group in history. And they still don’t have enough. With this kind of power how can anyone make them pay? WHO will make them pay? Enter Renato Jones, a mysterious vigilante out to even the score. And when he enters the fray THE SUPER-RICH ARE SUPER F***ED.

Andrews added: "Batman was a billionaire kid who watched his billionaire parents die at the hands of a poor street thug trying to keep his family alive. Batman didn't declare war against crime, he declared war against the impoverished. The world today doesn't need Batman. The jails are over-run with the poor. The true criminals, the ones that aren't prosecuted... are protected by money and position. They bankrupt our country, take our jobs, take our homes, kill hope and compassion. And profit from all of it. Today's world needs someone who can make THEM pay. The ONEs. Today's world needs RENATO JONES... It's not Revenge. It's Restitution."

RENATO JONES: THE ONE % #1 (Diamond Code MAR160509) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, May 4th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, April 11th.
