THE UGLIEST KID ON EARTH Takes on Satan... and PBS?

April 9, 2014

Larry King writes introduction to comic book comedy sensation

Debuting in 2013, TODD, THE UGLIEST KID ON EARTH introduced the world to a happy-go-lucky kid who remains cheerful in a world designed to crush his spirit. In the first volume of this dark humor hit by Eisner Award-nominated artist MK Perker (Air, The Unwritten) and writer Ken Kristensen (The Amazing Adventures of The Escapist, Indestructible), Todd took on an axe-murderer. In volume two, due out in May, Todd confronts something even darker: the unholy intersection of comic book conventions, public television, and paranormal investigation — a conspiracy that literally goes as deep as the dark abyss of Hell.

"The survival of PBS in American culture has always been difficult to explain," said writer Kristensen. "A television network with high artistic standards, educational programming, and a ratings juggernaut in Downton Abbey? Clearly they've made a deal with the devil — and Todd, the Ugliest Kid on Earth will unearth the ugly truth."

TODD, THE UGLIEST KID ON EARTH VOLUME 2 features an introduction by news talk titan Larry King (yes, that Larry King!). It will be in comic book stores on May 7 and bookstores on May 20.

Praise for TODD, THE UGLIEST KID ON EARTH

"Todd is a classic dark comedy and is a must read for anyone looking for one of the most off-beat comics ever."
– Jimmie Gillespie, The Outhousers

"A cautionary tale of the human spirit triumphing over a stacked deck of inborn adversity. I laughed and laughed hard at almost every other page. I don’t mean those conciliatory titters we give writers when they try to make a joke, I mean outright belly-aching guffaws."
– Rob Patey, Ain't it Cool News

"M.K. Perker’s art is simply outstanding. He blends caricatures with a highly detailed cartoon sensibility. The mixture of styles makes the absurdity and off-the-wall dark humor jump off the page. Perker can handle anything you throw at him and Kristensen can’t throw enough. The fun these guys are having is palpable and they leave it all on the page. 5/5 stars "
– Russell, Johnson, Unleash the Fanboy

"Perker is one of the most consistently brilliant artists out there. He has a skill for pulling off dark and macabre things with a sense of whimsy. He perfectly balances the story’s gags with the more detailed character work and dramatic moments. 4.5/5 stars"
– Cody Farrell, Comic Book Therapy
