Slaves of Ancient Sparta Rebel in THREE

Posted on March 11, 2014

Nearly one hundred and twenty years after the 300 held off the mighty Persian empire at Thermopylae, three helot slaves do the unthinkable: In one blood-soaked night, they rebel against their Spartan masters. Three helot survivors — Klaros, Demar, and Terpander, the eponymous three of the April Image Comics graphic novel THREE by Kieron Gillen and Ryan Kelly — survive the slaughter and run. To save the reputation of Sparta, three hundred warriors set out to capture and kill them. The desperate helots and their determined, brutal pursuers leave a trail of blood across Greece.

The Golden Age’s Sordid Side in SATELLITE SAM

Posted on March 4, 2014

The Golden Age of television conveyed a mythologized, idealized vision of America to viewers: happy nuclear families, astounding adventures, manufactured innocence served up to a captivated audience. But was there darkness behind the glow of the small screen? In SATELLITE SAM, Matt Fraction (SEX CRIMINALS, Hawkeye) and Howard Chaykin (BLACK KISS, AMERICAN FLAGG) tell a story of what went on off the sets of 1950s television—rife with sex, death, and corruption. The series’ first collection, SATELLITE SAM VOLUME ONE, will be in stores in March.

High Fantasy, Booze, Brawls, and Blood in RAT QUEENS

Posted on February 26, 2014

You’ve never seen high fantasy heroines like the Rat Queens before. Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric, and Betty the Hippy Smidgen are foul-mouthed, gleefully blood-spattered, prone to fits of indiscriminate property damage, and often intoxicated. They’re the stars of the hit Image Comics/Shadowline comic book series RAT QUEENS, and they’re best f*cking mercenary team in all of Palisade. So why does someone want them dead? Wait, don’t answer that. Better than any bard’s song of triumph in battle, RAT QUEENS VOLUME ONE: SASS AND SORCERY by Kurtis J. Wiebe (PETER PANZERFAUST) and Roc Upchurch (VESCELL) will be hitting (and we do mean hitting) store shelves in March.
