So far I have read the first 2 issues of Ferro City and I love it. Cool pulp style mystery book set in a city inhabited by both humans and robots. Jason Armstrong has brought something very cool to comic shelves. Without a doubt my favorite part of Ferro City would have to be Jason's fantastic designs for the robots. Very 50's - 60's sci-fi.

Anyone know when 3 is suppossed to be out? I am hoping I haven't missed it yet and have to go hunt for it.

| I have it on very good authority that #3 is coming out next week! And yes, isn't it one hell of a good title? |

Hmm...I'll have to check it out. Haven't seen it yet, but did get to look at a preview.
The title is strange. Is Ferro City supposed to be a play on the word Ferocity? |

Hah, I never saw that before! I don't think so, however...it's basically a story about human interaction with AI robots, so I think the "ferro" refers more to iron. However, given especially what Jason and I have talked about in the past, I think that the name Ferro City is more than a passing homage to Dean Motter's Radiant City, Terminal City, and Electropolis. |

Actually, I WAS going to call the series Smithe and Weston, but half way into the first story I figured I could tell stories about anybody if it wasn't titled after specific people (you can do stories about the Flash in the Justice League, but not in Batman, if you get my drift).
And yes, it was suggested to me that my title choice was a "ferocious" one. "The hidden meaning" was what my grade school teacher would call it.
Ferro City #3 oughtta come out on the 26th, Joe Keatinge at Image Central tells me. Some sort of curfluffle at the printers.
Has everyone been enjoying the Photoshop'd back cover for #2? There's another one on the back of #3 -- my director Ted Bastien at my secret identity job does them for me all the time -- he did one using a still from Reservoir Dogs -- great stuff!
Ted has a long running comic strip at

so check it out

I was uncertain about this when it first came out. I glanced at it week to week as it rested on the backissue wall. I finally brokedown & picked it up. Very cool indeed. I think #2 came out the following week. Even better.
I have #4 on order. I'll have to add this to my pull list. Seems I'm adding more & more Image books all the time.
Also, in the spirit of good comics, them Speakeasy folks are getting more & more of my money as well. |

Good call on the title. I agree that this way any story taking place in the city can be told. I never noticed the "hidden meaning" until it was pointed out here either.

I received my comps from the printer in the mail yesterday -- they look great! Proof that indeed Ferro City #3 will arrive in stores October 26th!
Yay! Thanks to all for buying my comic! -- Jason |

Bumpusth,
I am going to pitch a new Ferro City story arc I'm calling "The Big Reboot" sometime in the late spring, once I come out of my winter hibernation. Six weeks later if I see my shadow.
I want to delve into what happened in Machine Town that forced Smithe to quit the Robot Police, but first I have lots of other stuff to take care of first; lots of freelance cooking away on the back burner, lots of maintenance stuff to do around the house, lots of family stuff to participate in.
I'm having a great time making comics again, though. Lots of time spent drawing storyboards and working on other people's publishing projects make me want to do as much Ferro City as possible. Thanks again to Image and all the readers who enable me to do so.

Hey, Jason.
We had some e-mails going back and forth a few years back. The Squadron stuff.
I made the corporate pitching rounds a time or two and got farther than I expected. The reality, which I've been inching towards, is very different than I thought it would be back when we corresponding. Then again, I was barely twenty at the time, if that.
I always regretted losing touch with you and wished we could have got some doors opened on the stuff we were tossing around.
Glad to see you're back in comics!
My email is patrick.gerard@gmail.com if you ever want to reach me. |

Planning more storylines is always good -- that means that readership and publishers like you, which means you get to stick around a while! |
