Actually Reed Richards Doom, as all the Earth-X characters were designed or re-designed by Alex Ross. John Paul penciled the series and I inked it.

Could that be what you're thinking of? |

This was on the site that Terence (silent) posted, but I love it!
Gérald Parel either does some painterly work, stuff like Jock's or this washy work like the Doom he did. I personally love what he does with the wash look. It's kind of a bit of Leon mixed with a bit of Ross?
His 7 secondes book is amazing, and a book that I flip through frequently since I got it from amazon france. Parel is now doing Iron Man covers for Marvel I believe.

Created specifically for this thread. This is a statue of doctor doom, to which a magical sparrow flys to each day to pluck out a ruby from his stone-cold vissage and give it to a starving family so that they may put food on their table, but the sparrow has stayed too long and winter is coming... so the sparrow dies, and the town decides the statue, now barren, is so ugly and decrepit that a bird would die at its feet... so the townsfolk took the statue to the furnace, but the statues solid stone heart would not burn. Then god was like "hey you angels, bring me the most two beautiful things in the world" and his angels brought him the stone heart of doctor doom and the dead sparrow...
