Jason Pearson's long out of print high-octane action series with a paternal twist returns in a completely new collection just in time for Father's Day!

This June Image Comics brings back Jason Pearson’s long out of print BODY BAGS: FATHER'S DAY mini-series in an all-new collection!

“I’m very happy to see the FATHER’S DAY trade paperback in print after so many years," Pearson said. "People have been asking for this collection for a while now, and after the success of the BODY BAGS: ONE SHOT, the timing is finally right. There are lots of new Mack and Panda fans that are just discovering these characters and they need access to the story that started it all.”

BODY BAGS collects the sold-out origin story of Mack (a.k.a. Clown Face), the best ‘body bagger’ in the business, and the sudden arrival of his estranged daughter, Panda, as a rival 'bagger' threatens to end her life. In short order Mack has to learn just how he'll handle a wild teenage daughter determined to follow in her daddy’s lethal footsteps. In addition, the collection will feature never-before-seen artwork and bonus materials that will have fans old and new coming back for more!

BODY BAGS, VOL. 1: FATHER'S DAY TP (APR090358), a 128-page full color softcover for $14.99, will be in stores June 17th, 2009.

IMAGE COMICS' VIKING GOES BACK TO PRESS DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED PRE-RELEASE SELL OUT!

Pre-release VIKING buzz results in a massive sell out bigger than any other in recent Image history!

After an amazing reception at this past weekend's ComicsPRO, writer Ivan Brandon and illustrator Nic Klein's upcoming ongoing series, VIKING, now faces a pre-release distribution-level sellout of unprecedented proportions despite a very significant overprint, resulting in an near-immediate second printing.

"I can't thank the retailers enough for the crazy amount of support they've shown for us." Brandon said. "This book is a lot of years in progress and for Nic and I to see this kind of reception... I spent the weekend giddy and humbled and half-waiting to wake up and find out I'd imagined the whole thing. We overprinted by a lot, hoping there'd be word of mouth above our initial orders. To sell out, before the public's even seen the book... it's so far beyond what I could ever have hoped far. To make sure as many copies get out there as possible, we'll be releasing the first printing on April 22nd, with a massive second printing in stores two weeks later on May 6th, to make sure there's not a huge wait for anyone."

VIKING, heralded as a crime comic for the 9th century, follows the story of two brothers looking to make their way up the ladder of the Norse criminal underground only to find they're quickly biting off more than they could ever hope to chew. Nic Klein's lush renditions of Ivan Brandon's hard-boiled storytelling results in what has been retailers and press already praising it as the buzz book release of April. The variant cover will feature a slightly tweaked version of Klein's original gorgeous cover and will retain the series' high-quality production values and Golden Age dimensions.

ComicsPRO Board Member and Lonestar Comics General Manager Chris Powell added, "At our ComicsPRO meeting, [Image Comics PR & Marketing Coordinator"> Joe Keatinge brought a copy of VIKING #1 for retailers to look at. Everything about the book screamed 'big hit', from story to art to production values. I love the fact that it's a larger trim size with heavy textured paper that compliments the 'feel' of the book nicely. We upped our orders via telephone from the meeting, and can't wait to put this book into the hands of our customers!"

VIKING #1 (FEB092371), a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores April 22nd. The second printing will follow on May 6th, 2009. Retailers interested in learning more about ComicsPRO can find more details at www.comicspro.org.

IMAGE COMICS SCALES OLYMPUS THIS MAY!

Image Comics presents Nathan Edmondson and Christian Ward's OLYMPUS this May!

Image Comics, Nathan Edmondson and Christian Ward reveal the secret life of the gods through the eyes of the Brothers Gemini in OLYMPUS, an all-new full color ongoing series beginning this May!

"Christian Ward and I created OLYMPUS as a barrel of powder, and along came the good folks at Image with the match," Edmondson said. "To see our living vision presented to the world by such an excellent and widely-received publisher is an honor."

OLYMPUS begins with the Brothers Gemini, 3,000 years after Zeus has granted them eternal life in exchange for eternal servitude, hunting an exiled god, only to stumble upon a greater horror by accidentally releasing one of Hades' most dangerous prisoners. The results explode as Edmondson and Ward expand the mythology of classic tales in a fresh, compelling visual style in an action-adventure driven series unlike any other out there.

OLYMPUS #1 (MAR092402), a 24-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores May 20th, 2009.

TOP COW LAUNCHES SUBSCRIPTIONS WITH MAYHEM!

TOP COW AND MAYHEM COMICS ANNOUNCES SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE!

Top Cow Productions, Inc. proudly announced today that they have reached an agreement with Mayhem Comics and Games to offer a subscription service for Top Cow’s entire line of new comics to readers.

Mayhem Comics and Collectibles, founded by Dave Cory and Rob Josephson in Iowa in 1990, sells discount comic books, role playing games and supplies, collectible card games, t-shirts, anime and toys in two retail locations and online. The subscription service with Top Cow would provide subscribers with home delivery of their favorite Top Cow titles the week each comic is released packed in a free comic bag and board for its protection.

“We are incredibly thrilled to finally be able to offer a subscription service to our fans that don’t have a local comic shop near them,” said Filip Sablik, Publisher of Top Cow Productions, “Mayhem Comics and Collectibles has a fantastic reputation for taking care of their customers and we can’t think of a better partner.”

“It’s a great way for those customers who don’t have a local shop or are unable to get to one to read these great stories.” said Chris Pellack, Mayhem’s Mail Order Manager. “The way the economy is right now, it is very practical for consumers to have their books delivered, especially with Top Cow’s pledge to keep their books at $2.99 through 2009.” Pellack added.

Subscriptions are offered in runs of six or twelve issues for ongoing titles, such as Witchblade and The Darkness, as well as full runs of each mini-series at a discounted and guaranteed price. The price guarantee ensures that, in addition to the cover price discount, even if the comic raises its cover price or if a special issue is priced above the regular cover price, subscribers will only pay their original subscription price. Additionally, as part of the agreement Mayhem has pledged that the comics will be in subscribers’ hands within seven days after the direct market.

“Due to our centralized location, many subscribers will receive their books by the weekend after its release. But seven days should be plenty of time for the post office to deliver the books.” Pellack said.

Mayhem’s commitment to providing its customers with great value and service was one of the motivating reasons for Top Cow’s decision to select the comic store as their subscription partner.

In addition to The Darkness and Witchblade subscriptions for a complete run of all five issues of Black Vault and six issues of Impaler are currently offered, with more titles to come. Fans interested in subscribing should visit www.mayhemcomics.com for more information.

IMAGE COMICS AND THE COMIC BOOK LEGAL DEFENSE FUND DEFEND YOUR LIBERTIES LIKE NEVER BEFORE!

Image Comics Expands Support of Comic Book Legal Defense Fund!

At today's ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, Image Comics announced plans to further expand its support of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the comics' industry's first response in the fight against censorship. Image will support the not-for-profit organization with a second installment of LIBERTY COMICS and will launch The CBLDF Liberty Series,* *a series of high-end variant covers featuring Image's strongest titles with exclusive artwork not available anywhere else. All proceeds of both projects will go directly towards the Fund's important defense of comics' First Amendment rights.

"Image Comics was founded on defending comics' creative freedom and the CBLDF continues the fight for securing the free speech rights we all depend on to do business," Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson said. "It's important to us to ensure that they have the resources they need to continue that important work. The CBLDF stands up for every creator, retailer, publisher, and fan in this industry, so it's important to us, as a publisher, to stand up in support of their work."

The first step in Image's expanded support of the Fund will be the launch of the CBLDF Liberty Series. These special edition comics will come at a slightly higher price and every dollar earned will go towards supporting the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund's efforts to defend the industry's rights to support a full line of comics. * *Every variant in the CBLDF Liberty Series* *is available as a separate line item from the regular series, allowing fans and retailers an easy opportunity to make a big difference. Full details about participating books in this series will be released later this Spring, for the program's launch this Summer.

This October, Image Comics will release LIBERTY COMICS #2, the sequel to last year's all-star anthology which raised over $30,000 to benefit the Fund. The second volume will continue the original's tradition of featuring high end creators like Mike Mignola, J. Scott Campbell, Darwyn Cooke, Mark Millar, Walter Simonson, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Art Adams with a with a whole new roster to be announced in advance of this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego.

CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein says, "Image Comics has been extraordinary in their support of the CBLDF. As a corporate member they are one of the pillars of the business community who support the Fund's work. With Liberty Comics and the new Liberty Series of covers, they are increasing their support in a way that will ensure we are able to continue to perform our legal work, and expand our education mission in new directions. We are grateful to Image Comics, its partners, and creators for lending such extraordinary support to the CBLDF."
