HICKMAN FREES PAX ROMANA

Jonathan Hickman releases debut issue for free!

29 February 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - THE NIGHTLY NEWS' Jonathan Hickman will be releasing the first issue of his all new miniseries, PAX ROMANA, to coincide with its second issues, due in stores next week.

"I'm extremely proud of PAX ROMANA," said creator Jonathan Hickman. "It's enough of a departure from my first project, The NIGHTLY NEWS, that I had concerns about how it would be initially received. The fact that we printed more copies – the fact that we sold out of those copies – has been wonderful."

Last year Jonathan Hickman's second miniseries, PAX ROMANA, debuted to critical acclaim, hot on the heels of his debut, THE NIGHTLY NEWS. While PAX ROMANA has a very different approach than its predecessor, a sold out print run and subsequent praise once again solidified Hickman as a creator to watch out for.

PAX ROMANA #2 (OCT072016), a 32-page full color comic for $3.50, will be in-stores March 3rd, 2008. The entire first issue can be read at http://www.pronea.com/samples/PR1sample.html.

IMAGE COMICS REVEALS PROOF TO THE MASSES!

Image Comics' PROOF collected this May!

14 February 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - Cryptozoology received a frightening re-imagining in the pages of Alex Grecian & Riley Rossmo's PROOF and the uninitiated can catch up this May with the series' very first collection.

"Being new creators with an odd concept is a frightening thing, which may have fueled the horrific things happening in the book," Grecian said. "However, the reception has been fantastic, from both fan and critics alike. We already have five years of the series plotted out, so we're very happy to tell that tale and everything that follows."

PROOF follows Agent Ginger Brown as she's transferred to the FBI's top-secret cryptozoological division and immediately thrust into a murder mystery with an urban legend as its primary suspect. PROOF's mix of horror, mystery and humor has garnered the series a lot of attention from both in and outside the comics industry.

Entertainment Weekly said, "PROOF ranges from the nicely fantastical to, when required, the memorably gruesome."

PROOF VOL. 1: GOATSUCKER TP (ISBN: 978-1-58240-944-3), a 128-page full color trade paperback for $9.99, will be in stores May 7th, 2008.

THE BAKERS RETURN TO SHOCK AND "AWW!" READERS!

The Bakers return in a full-length adventure!

7 February 2008 - Kyle Baker’s The Bakers return this week in THE BAKERS: BABIES & KITTENS, their very first book-length adventure!

"After the success of the previous collection, I really wanted to tackle a longer story," said Baker. "Considering this is all based off my crazy household, there was no lack of material! It's a true family comic, released in time to give to Mom this Valentine's Day!"

Like its previous volume, THE BAKERS: BABIES & KITTENS shines a spotlight on family life like no other graphic novel out there. When danger-allergic Dad forbids the family to adopt a cat, Mom and the kids do the only logical thing: they adopt it anyway!

THE EXCLUSIVE ASSASSIN

Image Comics to feature exclusive SCUD cover at Wondercon!

6 February 2008 - After over a decade of anticipation, Rob Schrab returned to his seminal creation, SCUD THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN, but fans eager for a cover by him can only get it at this upcoming Wondercon.

"Ashley Wood, Jim Mahfood, Dave Hartman and Doug Tennapel have been big supporters since the beginning and it meant a lot to have them covering #21-24," said Schrab. "However, as I finished the final pages I couldn't resist the itch to illustrate one last SCUD cover myself."

SCUD: THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN #21 is the first of four issues detailing SCUD's mission to destroy the planet in exchange for saving his lover's soul. Schrab's cover features SCUD emerging into the world, ten years later, mere seconds before he finds out nothing is as he remembers.

SCUD: THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN #21 (DEC072049), a 32-page black and white comic book for $3.50 featuring a cover by ROBOTS VS. ZOMBIES' Ashley Wood, will be in stores this Wednesday. The variant edition will only be available during WonderCon, February 22-24th, at the Image Comics booth (#509).
